Southern Oregon Wines
September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$30
with Nate Winters, Troon Vineyard
We are believers in the effects of biodynamic practices on wine. In biodynamics, farming organically is necessary but insufficient to achieving plant and planetary health. Biodynamic farming is attributed to Rudolf Steiner, who believed that the health of our soils, plants and animals comes through bringing them into connection with the natural forces of the earth and the heavens.
Troon Vineyard was recently certified biodynamic by Demeter. Nate will use their experience, from first converting to organic, then going full-in to biodynamic, to demystify biodynamics to the science and common sense that underpin what is often regarded as a cult.
Along the way, we’ll taste some very nice and reasonably-priced wines from Oregon’s Applegate Valley. No Pinot Noir or Pinot Gris among this line up. Instead, we’ll sample Vermentino, Syrah, Tannat and Zinfandel, among others. Join us for an enlightening evening.
