Wines for Winter – 20 Under $20

We love Eric Asimov’s idea of identifying 20 seasonal, affordable wines. We have followed his lead in creating a similar list filled with wines that we know are available in Vermont and that we know can be priced to stay under that $20 ceiling.

Windham Wines: Winter 22 Under $22

We’ve created our own list again this winter, though it is a 22 under $22. Sixteen of the wines on our list are organic or biodynamic. Though we have several of the Asimov wines, we have only two overlapping wines that appears both on both our lists this time—the Ultreia and the Bonny Doon. Our regular customers will recognize the Ultreia. We recommended it to all who came in looking for a red during the first several months after which it was again available in Vermont.

Wine Tasting

I hope that you all enjoy Thanksgiving as much as we do. It is a wonderful time of family, friends, food and,of course, wine. After a token 5 km turkey trot, we all gather in the kitchen for much of the day, cooking, sampling, eating hors d’oeuvres, oogling over the new lives that have joined us since the last family gathering– we have 30-somethings whom we treasure. It is a glorious day that begins with “bloodies” or sparkling, and ends with a feast and bottles of red and white at the table.
