Wine Appreciation

An introductory wine appreciation series offered as four, one-and-a-half hour tasting courses. Session one reviews the basic elements of wine and discusses how to taste wine, including tasting 4-6 wines to illustrate concepts. Session two discusses winemaking practices, new world–old world wine styles with focused tasting of sauvignon blancs and chardonnays. Session three continues contrasting old world and new world styles by tasting pinot noirs and cabernets. The last meeting covers different vinification techniques for champagne and sparkling wines, with the happy task of tasting across a range of sparklers. With any remaining time, we discuss food and wine pairing.

Course includes

  • a course book
  • a white and red wine glass
  • lots of tasting during our time together
