We do love Nebbiolo at Windham Wines. We were surprised and delighted to discover a sparkling Nebbiolo rosé that truly turned our heads, and no wonder, it is all Barbaresco fruit. We'll sample that wine, along with a Timorasso, a rare white grown only in Piedmont, an Arneis from Roero, and a Ruché before moving into more familiar territory of Barbera and Nebbiolo.

Weingut Steininger

We are honored to host Eva Steininger, of Weingut Steininger, one of our favorite Austrian producers. We have so many good wines to show that we had to split the tasting into two. Steininger has won numerous awards for their sparkling wines, known as sekt, which they do as single varieties. They own vineyards in each of the Kamptal's crus from which they also make still wines.

Friday evening's tasting will start with a sekt, then focus on still wines. This is the area of Austria known for its Gruner Veltliners and Rieslings, all vinified dry. The Steiningers own small lots in each of the region's grand crus. Eva will guide us from the entry levels to the crus.

Steininger has won numerous awards for their sparkling wines, known as sekt, which they do as single varieties. They own vineyards in each of the Kamptal's crus from which they also make still wines.

Saturday's morning event will be an informal brunch, with quiche and fruit, and several delicious and refreshing Steininger sekts. Eva collaborated with her father, Karl, making these wines when we met her eight years ago. We are excited that Eva agreed to this second event that gives you the opportunity to taste the difference across grapes in sparklings. We are in for a treat.
