Informal Tasting– Sparkling Wines

New Italian Wines from Artisanal Cellars

Led by Rafael Flores and Winthrop Pennock Artisanal Cellar’s third partner, Iacopo di Teodoro, keeps finding terrific new wines from small producers with which we’ve fallen in love. Many of them are organic or biodynamic. While Iacopo cannot join us this time, Winthrop and Rafael can share the stories of these producers. Falanghina, Freisa, Groppello and Marzemino have been in the shop but make their tasting debut for this event.

Led by Jessica Gualano, David Bowler Wines Several years back (12-15 years ago), Spanish wines were wildly popular, especially the Garnaxtas and Tempranillos made by coops. Spain became associated with cheap and cheerful value wines. Meanwhile, intrepid young Spaniards were exploring forgotten wine regions, discovering old vineyards and resurrecting local varieties.
